Coreen,I found your website very helpful when dealing with a swimming puppy.
I'm an American Akita breeder and never heard of such a syndrome until
one of my girls gave birth to a very heavy only pup who develops a flat
chest by 2 week-old and couldn't stand at 3. My vet, like many others,
advised me to put the pup to sleep but thanks to your stories I kept hope
and managed to save her ! Photos attached, you're welcome to add them on
your website if you like...
